Educations & Learning
The education system has a long history and with the arrival of the New Town in 1964 some unique opportunities arose which were addressed by some unique solutions. The need to provide for a rapidly expanding school population in a small space of time, particularly when the education system nationwide was changing with the introduction of the Secondary School System, lead to a three tier system which is still in place today.
Another unique feature pursued by the Redditch Development Corporation was the use of dual-use sports and leisure facilities to maximise usage and minimise overall cost. here were also developments in adult education facilities and a new library for the town.
